Patients currently prescribed chemotherapy and discharged to their home are eligible to participate in our Chemotherapy IV Disconnect Service. Suburban Home Health Care has a team of trained clinicians who will coordinate with the patient to arrange the safe disconnect and disposal of prescribed chemotherapy devices in the patients’ home per doctor’s orders.
In addition, our clinicians will offer training and education to any patient family members or caregivers living in the patient’s home. The materials used for in-home chemotherapy can be extremely dangerous, especially if there are children or lactating women living in the patient’s home.
Suburban clinicians will come prepared to safely manage all materials needed to dispose and disconnect the patient’s Chemotherapy IV in addition to manage any spills or other contaminations which can occur when working with these materials.
